Mythical Creatures: Dragon Coin by T-Tiger Mythical Creatures: Dragon Coin by T-Tiger
Artwork done for the 5th and final release in the Mythical Creatures coin series I have been working on. Each coin is made from 1oz of pure sliver and the colour is applied using a special "pad printing" process.

Previous creatures I illustrated for the series include a griffin, unicorn, phoenix and werewolf.

If you are interested in purchasing the coins, please visit www.coinclub.com.au

Hehe I'm glad you like them! Yes it is an expensive hobby unfortunately! Well I think the dragon's colours came out the best and he is the biggest on the coin out of the 5 :) maybe start collecting backwards? The first one is usually the hardest to get/ the most expensive though. Coin Club still has some griffins left.

Nope, gotta catch them all. :giggle: Still I can always reason that it's in fact an investment, not a whim, right? Right? :D

Btw do you as a creator get one set as a gift, the first created or something similar? I've heard it was a custom some time ago in our Polish mint but they don't do it anymore. I think it's a pity it was a very nice gesture. :)

Hehe. I suppose you could justify it that way XD I just justify it on whether I like the design or not. I think some people put a lot of hope in the potential investment and buy coins they don't like because they think other factors will make the prices rise.. and in the case where they don't gain value, they're left with a bunch of expensive coins they don't even like!

Actually I do get number 29 (my bday) of any of the coins I have done, because my boss is very kind and generous :) I don't think it's common for the big Mints anymore, probably because their projects are the effort of a lot of people.

Yeah, same here, I wouldn't buy (at least not expensive one) a coin I don't like. Still I tend to collect all the 2 złotys (less than $1 in value) that are collectible and I can get my hands on them. :)

You have wonderful boss. And you're right these days creating a coin is an effort of so many ppl that it might be unfair to gift only one and quite expensive to gift them all. ;)

Funny thing I recently started to learn horse riding. (I mean recently - for the past 6 months. ;)) And just few days ago my boyfriend gifted me with another Perth Mint coin - The Year Of The Horse so I will be riding at least whole year. And he didn't even know I have this soft spot for Perth Mint coins, he just picked the one he liked most. ^_^

Oh that's nice you got the Perth Mint year of the horse coin :) The lunars are nice and are good for a once a year collection. I think they hold their value pretty well too.

Horse riding sounds fun! I hope that's going well! I've tried a couple of times but I kept getting thrown off and trod on once (at least that was a pony) >.>

You know they say if you won't fell of the horse you will not learn anything. :D So you could assume you know much more now than the most of riders. :)
